Permanent solutions for missing teeth
If you’ve lost one or more teeth, dental implants offer a secure and natural-looking way to restore your smile. At Barrowford Dental Practice, implant treatment is carried out by Craig, our experienced implant clinician with a formal qualification from BAIRD (British Academy of Implant & Restorative Dentistry).
Craig works closely with our team to ensure every case is carefully planned and restored to the highest standard. Whether you're replacing a single tooth or looking for a more extensive solution, we’ll support you at every stage with clear advice and a focus on comfort.

What to expect
The dental implant treatment process
Implants consist of a small titanium post placed into the jawbone, acting as a replacement root, and a custom-made crown or bridge to complete your smile. You’ll begin with a consultation where we assess your suitability and talk through the process with Craig, who has years of experience and advanced clinical training in implant dentistry. If you’re a suitable candidate, he’ll carry out the placement of your implant right here at the practice.
Once the implant has healed and integrated with the bone, you’ll return to us for the final restoration. This involves designing and fitting a crown, bridge or denture, depending on your needs. Every step is guided by precision, planning and a commitment to creating a result that looks and feels completely natural.
Frequently asked questions
Who is suitable for dental implants?
Most adults with healthy gums and sufficient bone are suitable candidates. Craig will carry out a full assessment, including x-rays or scans, to check the condition of your jawbone and surrounding tissues. If you need any preparatory treatment, such as bone grafting, we’ll talk you through the options. We’ll also review your general health and any lifestyle factors that might affect healing, ensuring you’re in the best position to move forward confidently.
Does getting a dental implant hurt?
Implants are placed under local anaesthetic and most patients find the procedure very manageable. Craig uses techniques designed to keep you as comfortable as possible throughout. After treatment, you may experience some mild swelling or discomfort, similar to having a tooth removed. This usually settles within a few days, and we’ll provide clear aftercare advice and support if you need us.
How long do dental implants last?
With good care, dental implants can last many years – often for decades. They’re made from strong, biocompatible materials and designed to integrate with your natural bone for long-term stability. Regular check-ups and good oral hygiene are key to keeping the surrounding gum and bone healthy, and we’ll keep a close eye on everything over time to make sure your implant stays strong.
What are the advantages over dentures or bridges?
Implants feel more like your natural teeth. They’re fixed in place, don’t rely on other teeth for support, and help preserve the bone structure of your jaw – something that can be lost after tooth loss. Unlike removable dentures, implants don’t move or affect speech and allow you to eat with confidence. Craig and the team will guide you through every option so you can make a decision that’s right for your health, comfort and lifestyle.
